3/4 c SHORTENING 1 ts SALT
1 1/2 c SUGAR 1 ts CINNAMON
2 ea EGGS 1/2 ts CLOVES
1 ts VANILLA 2 c ROLLED OATS
2 1/2 c FLOUR 1/2 c CHOPPED NUTS (OPTIONAL)
1/2 ts BAKING POWDER
MIX SHORTENING, SUGAR, EGGS AND VANILLA. MEASURE FLOUR BY DIPPING METHOD.
ADD SALT, SODA, SPICES AND BAKING POWDER TO FLOUR, STIRRING TO MIX.
BLEND FLOUR MIX TO SHORTENING MIXTURE. ADD ROLLED OATS. MIXTURE MAY NEED
ABOUT 1/4 CUP WATER ADDED. HEAT OVEN TO 4000F.
DROP DOUGH BY SPOONFULS ONTO COOKIE SHEETS.
