1/2 lb Margarine or butter
3 c Sugar
6 Eggs
1 ts Vanilla
3 c Flour
1/4 ts Baking soda
1 c Sour cream
1/2 c Chocolate chips
1/2 c Walnuts; (optional)
Use a good, powerful mixing bowl. Cream margarine and sugar together. Add
eggs and vanilla. Alternate dry ingredients with sour cream. Add chocolate
chips and walnuts. Bake in ungreased tube pan at 350 degrees for 1 hour to
1 hour, 10 minutes. Let cool briefly, place on plate or in plastic
container.
This is an incredibly simple yet delicious pound cake. There’s a wide range
that you can “bend the rules” on regarding ingredient amounts, so feel free
to play.
This is good warm out of the oven, as it is when cooled, or toasted with
ice cream. I like to make two & put one in the freezer; the frozen one
comes out even denser than the first.
Ingredients are easy to play with: one cup of sugar more or less; up to an
entire bag of chocolate chips. It all depends on your sweet tooth.
